There are many different ways of treating acne.  Most people know of acne creams and other over the counter “cures” for acne, but sometimes, these treatments just aren’t enough.  This is especially true if your acne causes scars.  These scars can be permanent, and while they might fade over time, they might always be there.  Over the years, there have been various ways of treating acne scars.  Dermabrasion involved actually removing the upper layer of skin tissue, a very painful process.  While this removed the scar, it left the patient’s skin raw and tender for months afterward.

The second type of laser acne treatment involves the surgeon using a laser to actually burn away the scarred skin.  Once these skin cells are removed, new, non-scarred skin grows over the area.  The laser is so refined that surgeons can specifically target only the scarred tissue, leaving the rest of the patient’s face untouched.  The depth of the laser can also be set, making the entire process very safe.  While not all acne patients qualify for laser acne treatment because of other factors, those who do may never have to deal with scarring again.  There are very few complications or side effects from laser treatment, making acne laser treatment even more popular.
